Foot Launch Training at Oregon Paramotor

Oregon Paramotor offers Foot Launch powered paragliding (“paramotor”) training. Paramotor training will be one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. We have different options for training schedules, but typically training takes 8-10 consecutive days to go from ground dweller to sky dominator.

We take great pride in our extensive training program, and you will leave Oregon Paramotor with all the skills necessary to launch, maneuver and land at your home flying site without assistance or worry. From day one we focus on safety, along with fully grasping the rules, complexities, and regulations surrounding our sport.

Standard Plan - $2,500.00

Now booking 2024 courses! 🤘

The foot launch course is a 8-10 days process. This course includes ground handling or ‘kiting’ lessons, classroom lectures, online and written materials, and as many flights as we can fit in during your stay. Usually around 15-30 flights.

Rental of all the gear and equipment you could need is available at an additional cost (see below).

At Oregon Paramotor we train at roughly 1-2 students per instructor. This means you will have one-on-one time with the instructors and they will be at your side every step of the way.

Typically, by day 3 or 4, depending on weather and student progression, you’ll be ready for your first solo flight! After first flights, instructors will continue to hone your launch & landing skills, while progressively giving you less and less input. Before you know it you’re flying on your own with little to no assistance. This usually happens around flights 10-20.

Once launches and landings are more comfortable, and students are performing them independently, our instructors introduce more airborne concepts like steeper turns, spot landings, motor-out simulations, cross-country considerations… and the students and instructors go out and fly the area together. It’s a blast. Trust us.

Our students go home with not only the skills necessary to fly powered paragliders, but the knowledge to keep themselves and others safe and the wisdom to make sound decisions as Pilot In Command of an aircraft.

Weekender Plan - $2,500.00

During the non-summer months, when the weather is more variable and the temperatures are lower, Oregon Paramotor offers its “Weekender” courses. These days of training don’t have to only be on weekends, but there are usually one or two days a week that are good flying, so we put those to good use!

Rental of all the gear and equipment you could need is available at an additional cost (see below).

Both the instructors and students will have to be flexible and ready to work if the weather is looking good for a stretch of days. We keep an eye on the 10-day forecast, and a couple days before the good flying weather the instructors and students agree to meet. Often it’s every weekend in a row, sometimes it might be several weeks between training sessions. It truly depends on weather and schedules.

This scattershot training can take longer then the 8-10 days of straight training in the summer, but in the end you get the same great result. Freedom from the bonds of gravity. Typically, 6-8 ‘weekends’ of work is needed, depending on student aptitude and skillset.
